About Lewis Brown Lyle
Civil War Veteran
According to Turner's 1999 "United Daughters of the Confederacy," Luke Lyle married Eliza Dorsett, of Chambers County, Alabama, in 1848. They remained in Chambers County for many years before relocating to Scott County, Miss.
At the outbreak of the Civil War, Lyle joined Co. F, 36th Mississippi Infantry. This Scott County company, nicknamed "The Hillsborough Rebels," was captured and paroled at Vicksburg in 1863, then joined the Army of Tennessee.
After the war, Lyle returned to Scott County to farm.
