About Lieut. Alexander Perry Rodgers

Cadet at the U.S. Military Academy from July 1, 1841 to July 1, 1846, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, July 1, 1846. Served in the War with Mexico, 1846-1847, being engaged in the Siege of Vera Cruz, March 9-29, 1847, Battle of Cerro Gordo, April 17, 18, 1847, Capture of San Antonio, Aug 20, 1847, Battle of Churubusco, Aug 20, 1847, Battle of Molino del Ray, Sep 8, 1847, and storming of Chapultepec, where, in leading a Company to the assault of the Castle, when within a few yards of the ditch, "still exerting himself, though already wounded, and shouting for his men to follow," he was killed Sep 13, 1847 aged 22.
