About Lieut Oziel G. Smith

Served during the Revolutionary War in the RI militia and married Abigail (Unknown), who died shortly after the birth of son Noah.
In July 1778, married again to Margaret Walton. The couple relocated to Clarendon VT, where Oziel once again served in the militia. Seven more children were born to him. Margaret Walton Smith died in Clarendon,VT on 11 June 1793.
Oziel relocated to the wilderness of New York around 1800. Nothing is known about a third marriage, except that it wasn't a happy situation.
Six of Oziel's eight children lived to adulthood. The oldest son, Noah, served in the War of 1812. George and Oziel were New York State Assemblymen who also served in the War of 1812. John was a physician in Illinois, Wm. Ward died early in Ohio, and Nancy married into the Beecher family.
