About Lieut. Thomas Hunt

Parentage undocumented.

May or may not be the Thomas Hunt who was the son of Reverend Robert Hunt, of Jamestown. There is no evidence on this one way or the other, beyond his being about the right age.

It is not known for certain how or when Thomas Hunt came to Virginia, only that he was there by 1630, when he married Joane Gawton, widow of Robert Drake.

Thomas Hunt was mentioned in a will on 9 August 1636 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas Hunt and given 40 lbs to tobacco in the will of John Symons, planter of Acchawmack. [S497] James Handley Marshall, Northampton Co, VA, Abstracts of Wills & Administrations, 1632-1802, p. 2 (will of John Symons, planter).
