Lieutenant Robert Peter Moseley, II was born on February 14, 1732, in Summerville Plantation, Dale Parish, Henrico County, Virginia, Colonial America. His parents were Robert Ligon Moseley, I and Sarah Rachel Moseley.
Robert married Mary Magdalene Moseley on September 23, 1756 in Manikintown, Cumberland, Virginia. Together they had the following children:
- Thomas M. Moseley;
- Captain Arthur Moseley;
- John Moseley;
- Magdaline Verreuil Bondurant;
- Judith Anne Bondurant;
- William Francis Moseley;
- Peter Guerrant Moseley.
