Lieutenant Robert Peter Moseley, II was born on February 14, 1732, in Summerville Plantation, Dale Parish, Henrico County, Virginia, Colonial America. His parents were Robert Ligon Moseley, I and Sarah Rachel Moseley.

Robert married Mary Magdalene Moseley on September 23, 1756 in Manikintown, Cumberland, Virginia. Together they had the following children:

  2. Captain Arthur Moseley;
  3. John Moseley;
  4. Magdaline Verreuil Bondurant;
  5. Judith Anne Bondurant;
  6. William Francis Moseley;
  7. Peter Guerrant Moseley.
