Lilly Ellis

The destiny of Lilly and her two younger sisters, Flora, and Daisy is unknown. Following the death of their father in 1884, their mother remarried in 1886. Clarinda and her new husband then seem to have hidden from the 1891 and 1901 census so it is not known if the 3 girls remained with her and were properly raised. Clarinda had a son to her new husband in 1888, so if the girls remained, it would have been a blended family.

There is a marriage recorded on September 23, 1894 at Poplar, St. Matthias, between a Lily Ellis, aged 22, and a Frederick Charles Green aged 23. Her age is about 3 years too high but this is plausibly our Lilly except that the father is recorded as Samuel George Ellis (deceased). I can find no evidence in earlier census of a Samuel George Ellis with a daughter Lily, therefore, this could be just a made up name. We will never know. Lily and Frederick Green went on to have a large family.
