About Lindley Riley Day

Lindley Day grew up in Fairfax South Dakota.

He came to Athabasca as a young man in 1906 with his brothers and sisters and Mother.
His father - William Riley (Bill) Day came 2 years prior in 1904 from Nebraska.
There were Ollie, Jetty, Lindley (Lynn), Forrest and Vivian (babe)
Lyndley had a homestead quarter section at  N.W.14-65-22-W4. Just outside of Colinton. 

His brother Forrest had S.E.15-65-22-W4 as his homestead quarter.

After getting married, Lyndley and his brother Forrest dealt in cattle and horses. They also were boxers and rode race horses. They both went to veterinary school and were very good vets.

In 1915 Forrest  won the gold metal for the Amateur Lightweight Championship of Alberta. 

It was at the Grand Union Hotel in Athabasca where Lindley and Marie Laure met as she was a waitress there. They were married on July 15, 1915. They had 13 children in total over the years. . In 1923 - Lynn and Marie Laure also had a railway tie business along with the farming and the horse and cattle dealing. In 1928 they moved to Falher - where they had a Restaurant and Rooming House and Livery Stable. In 1937 they moved to Reno - they had a quarter section, a large house and barn and raised shetland ponies. In 1945 the family moved to Edmonton so the younger kids could get a better education - Cecile, Dennis, Marianne, Jim and Susan. They bought a house by the Gainers plant , in Ritchie. the address was 9512 - 75 Ave. Edmonton. Lindley ran the Ritchie skating rink in winter and ran a Horse Riding Academy at Sylvan Lake in summer. The Dude Ranch in Sylvan lake had 35 to 40 ponies.

Lindley Day passed away in 1971 at 83
