About Lizzie Kerr

'Lizzie Kerr aka. Elizabeth Kerr was born in Brastead near Sevenoaks 'Kent to Eliza & William Davey who lived in Templeton rd Islington. Miss Lizzie Davey became Auntie Betty to this tree compiler. The family mostly knew her as Lizzie Kerr' Miss E Davey married in Rochford Essex in 1908 Mr Walter H Kerr (see his profile for further research) The couple had one son " Teddy", Edward H Kerr & 1 stillborn or death in infancy a boy. Lizzie lived in Epping Essex for over half a century 1909-1970 Lizzie lived in a cottage in High rd Epping with no electricity even as late as the 1960s. Always said by a couple of her sisters to have served as a nurse in late Victorian period. However it has been recalled she had quite an extensive medical knowledge. Not found employment details as yet. Her son became a very large fellow of 18 stone! He was known in the areas of Woodford, Chingford, Waltham Abbey where he travelled quite often as a chartered accountant, his offices were in Epping from the 1930s to his death. Lizzie Kerr lost her husband quite early on during the 1930s she never remarried. Therefore Auntie betty doted on her only son for the rest of her life, being careful of any attachments he formed with women during his later life.(see Edward Kerr profile) When Lizzie turned 80 she became very stooped with spine curvature , she stood at 5 foot 9 inches before. The tallest of the original Islington davey sisters in fact. Although she appeared older than her years early on.Teddy died in 1967 in St Margerets hospital Epping of pulmonary condition aged 53. three years later Lizzie died in a nursing home early morning in March 1970 in Wimborne rd Southend attended by her sister May Carter who lived just round the corner, this care home being the nearest available at the time.
