Lloyd William Larson

Lloyd William Larson, 87, passed away Monday in his home in Eureka.
Lloyd, lovingly known as "Poppy" to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born in Carlotta in 1919. He was a fourth generation Humboldt County native. He attended Cuddeback school and graduated from Fortuna High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

After the war Lloyd returned to Humboldt County with his wife, Nannette. He and Nannette were married for 60 years, during which time they had four children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family loved spending time with Lloyd and Nan at their summer home he built in Bridgeville.
Through the years Lloyd worked at the family mill, Larson Brothers Shingles, in Ridgewood, as well as building many Eureka homes and Humboldt County landmarks. Working for Beacom Construction, Clarence Ruokangas and others, Lloyd worked on the Clark Museum, Jacoby Storehouse, and various projects in Old Town Eureka, College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University. He shared his carpentry skills through carpenter apprentice classes he taught at College of the Redwoods.

Lloyd served as President of Native Sons and was a 53 year member of Humboldt Grange 501 where he served as master for two years. Lloyd was a lifetime learner and teacher. He loved being with his family, gardening and inventing. His consistent loving generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Nannette; siblings, Audrey Raugasin, Patricia Wiversol, Garth Larson, Merlyn and Evelyn Larson;

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at Humboldt Grange 501 on Saturday, February 17 at 1:00 P.M.

Arrangements are under the care of Sanders Funeral Home, Eureka.
