Lloyd Roed, 82, Fosston, MN, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo, ND, Lloyd Eivind Roed was born October 24, 1918, the son of Eivind and Margaret (Alm) Roed, in Hill River Township, McIntosh, MN, where he attended school. He joined the US Army on April 2, 1942. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars, Arrowhead, American Theater Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal, Victory Medal, and a Purple Heart. He was discharged December 27, 1945. He married Ruth Munter on April 8, 1947, in Lengby, MN. They lived and farmed near McIntosh where they farmed moving near Fosston, where they farmed. He retired in 1984 but continued to help on the family farm. He is survived by his wife, sons Larry (Stefanie) and Rick )Lorae) both of Fosston; daughters Eileen (Stan) Bednarz of Northfield, MN and Kay (Mark) Balstad) of Fosston, MN. 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, 2 great granddaughters, and a brother, Edgar Roed.
