About Loie Argales Pascoe, Jr.
Loie Argales Pascoe Jr., a former resident of Hot Springs Village, died July 3, 2006, in Tulsa, Okla., following a brief illness. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Pascoe was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Denoya, Okla., to the late Loie and Lucy Pascoe.
Called "Pascoe" by his many friends and family, he graduated in 1940 from Bagley High School, Tahlequah, Okla.
In World War II, he served the U.S. Army in Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star for successfully laying communications lines in enemy territory.
In 1946, Mr. Pascoe earned a bachelor of science in education from Northeastern State Teacher's College in Tahlequah, and a master of science in education from Oklahoma A&M College (OSU) in 1950.
He married Loreita Sittel on Aug. 23, 1949, in McAlester, and together they raised three children.
Mr. Pascoe taught industrial arts in Fairfax, Okla., schools for 10 years before moving to Tulsa in 1957. He taught for 27 years at Cleveland Junior High School, first teaching industrial arts then being promoted to dean of boys, assistant principal and then principal.
He enjoyed the respect and admiration of many colleagues and students while leading one of Tulsa's first integrated public schools.
Mr. Pascoe retired to Hot Springs Village, where he and Loreita hosted countless gatherings of family and friends at their lakeshore home, before returning to Tulsa's Inverness Village in October 2004.
Mr. Pascoe was a long-time member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and as chairman of the building committee which built the church at its present location.
Mr. Pascoe was preceded in death by his son, Loie Pascoe, III, in 1994.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Loreita, daughter Paula Brown and her husband, Kerry Walsh, and son Neal Pascoe and his wife, Debra, all of Tulsa; granddaughter Corey Brown Thornblad and her husband, Matt, of Arlington, Va.; grandsons Cody Brown, of Cairo, Egypt; Jeff and Ben Pascoe of Tulsa; sisters Frankie Calloway of Norman, Okla. and Bobbye Keaneman of La Cresta Murrieta, Calif.; numerous extended family members and many friends.
