Lois Margaret Miles Clinebelle October 1, 1025 to May 20, 2011

Lois Margaret Miles Clinebelle was born at Grandview, in Raleigh Co. WV. She was the daughter of the late James William and Dora Carper Miles. She attended the Grandview Elementary School, and the Shady Springs High School. She completed training at the Western Union Technical School in New Jersey and later was employed as a manager of the Western Union office in Rainelle, WV.

In April of 1946 she met Ray Clinebelle of Rainelle, who was in the process of receiving his discharge papers from the Army after having served in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. Lois Margaret Miles of Grandview, WV in 1946 worked at the Western Union Telegraph office in Rainelle, WV, where Lois was employed as a manager. There she met Ray Lester Clinebelle of Rainelle. They were married May 15, 1946 by the Rev. D.H. Matherly of the First Christian Church at Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky. Ray and Lois resided in Oak Hill, WV where Ray began a used car business. Ray and Lois had three sons born while they resided in Oak Hill: Ray Jr., James David, and William Randolph.

In 1956 Lois and Ray sold their business and moved the family to Miami, Florida where they built and managed the “LO-Ray” Apartments and managed other real estate property investments.

In 1959 Ray made a life changing decision and with the support of Lois, Ray enrolled into at Carson-Newman College (CNC), Jefferson City, TN to obtain education and training to become a Baptist Minister.

While Ray was in school, Lois was busy raising their three sons and also taking some business school classes and college classes. When Ray completed his 4-year degree at CNC, they moved to the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) in Fort Worth, TX for additional studies. Lois continued her primary role of raising their three sons, and also in June 1966, Lois earned her Diploma in Religious Education from SWBTS.

Together, Lois and Ray served in Baptist Churches in Texas, Virginia, South Carolina and Florida. Lois was very proud of her family. All three sons attended and graduated from CNC, and each of the sons met their future “wives to be” while attending CNC. Throughout their lives Lois and Ray supported mission ministries and young men and women entering the ministry. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Lois and Ray resided in Surf Side Beach, SC from 1981 to 1995. In 1995 they moved to Columbia, SC for Ray to be able to receive more medical care from the Veterans Administration. Ray passed away in December 1998. In 2002, Lois moved to her original home area, Beckley, WV, to assist with caring for an older sister. In 2007, she moved to Raleigh, NC to be closer to her son, Ray, Jr.

Lois (Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend) has crossed over “that river” to her promised Savior’s home. She worked and planned during her life here on this earth to go to Heaven. Her crowns will be many. We will miss her now for only a short twinkle of an eye. We celebrate her life and rejoice for her and look forward to joining our Mother and our Father with a “great hosts” “someday soon” “over there” “in the sweet bye and bye”! Amen!

Mrs. Clinebelle was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ray L Clinebelle in 1998, two brothers, Russell Miles and Robert Miles: and four sisters, Wilda Shoemaker, Maude Miles, Elizabeth Stover and Helen Carlson.
