Written by Daphne (d of Lora, gd Kelly): Dear Family, I have been trying to put into words how much my mother meant to me. I loved and still love her more than I can say. How do I express how much I enjoyed her almost childlike enjoyment of even the little things. I loved her laughter. I loved the times just the two of us spent together talking and sharing. When I was small she taught me to beware of strangers. She taught me to iron, clean and cook and to do these tasks well. She taught me about Jesus and what it meant to be a Christian. I learned by her example. She trusted me in all things. She never wavered from what she believed to be right or wrong. Still she did not ever interfere in my marriage or life as an adult. She was always there and I am having a great deal of difficulty thinking of my life without her. I was so blessed to have been born to Lora Hamilton Smith. She believed all of her children were special. Dear family we have suffered two major losses this year. We always think we will have time to spend with each other or talk on the phone. The miles separate us. Our daily lives are full and separate us. We think we will call or visit tomorrow or next week or next year. We lose touch with each other and what is going on outside of our own world. My wish is that we could all be close again and never be at a loss for words. I love each and ever one of my brothers, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins and think of you all. ~ One more thing I didn't mention. Mom was the best pinochle partner I have ever had. Love to all and please forward to other family members. Daphne
