About Lore Bloch

Lore (Teutsch) Bloch

BLOCH, Lore (Teutsch) Died peacefully at 98 in her bed in her Lexington MA home of more than 55 years. At the end, she expressed gratitude for her wonderful life. She was an immigrant from Germany in 1934, and helped many refugees enter the US and settle here before and during WWII. She had a long marriage with Konrad Bloch, who preceded her in death in 2000. Their life was a true partnership: they raised 2 children, and with Lore's unstinting support Konrad had an unusually successful scientific career. Later in life they took more time to enjoy life in the Veneto region of Italy, in Northeastern Vermont, and in Lexington. Lore is survived by her children, Peter (Marianne) of Madison, WI and Susan of Philadelphia, PA, by her grandchildren Benjamin and Emilie (Jesse Sondel), and by her latest pleasure in life, her 16-month-old great-granddaughter Jordan Audrey Sondel. Funeral arrangements, by Douglass Funeral Home of Lexington, are private. Donations may be made in her name to Doctors Without Borders, the Pine Street Inn, or a charity of particular interest to the donor.
