About Loretta Catharina Aymett

Loretta was born to Johanne and Eugen Zimmermann in Dayton, OH at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Loretta's mother was stricken with tuberculousis and later contracted pneumonia resulting from a car accident. She subsequently passed away a short time later when Loretta was only 7 years old. She lived temporarily with cousins Lois and Tante Clara while father, Eugen sought work in Cincinnati. A few years later he met and married Elfriede Mulhorn within their church. The family moved to Cincinnati where Loretta enjoyed childhood friends Charlotte and Jean Tauber whom she would join riding the riverboats on the Ohio River to Coney Island or would attend classical orchestral performances downtown Cincy with her father, a great music lover. Loretta played cello and was a member of a Glee Club or voice classes directed by Wilhelm von Kappelhoff, the father of Doris Day! As a teen Loretta worked at Pogues Dept. Store downtown Cinti. where she occationally encountered Hollywood celebrities in town for performances. When Loretta was in her teens her half sister, Ruth Esther (Haudek) Zimmermann was born. Loretta was introduced to Wesley her husband by Priest Roland Scwartz and wife Irene. They married October 6, 1950. Daughter Debbie was born in 1960 after 10 years of trying and two miscarriages. Wes and Loretta lived around the Dayton area - Kettering, Fairborn, and Enon/Springfield when Wesley became rector of the Springfield church congregation. Loretta was stricken with ovarian cancer around 1997. They moved to Troy to be closer to daughter Debbie, husband Dan and granddaughter Katie. Loretta passed away Nov. 2005 and is buried in Glen Haven Cemetery near Springfield/New Carlisle, OH.
