About Lorna Joyce Mitchell
As Lorna's parents had separated, and her father, John Robert Athwell Banks (recorded incorrectly on her marriage certificate as Athwell Robert John Banks, was living on a small property he owned in Lower Tivoli, near Ipswich, Queensland, her brother- in -law, Vic Paynter signed consent for her marriage as custodian. It appears that Lorna was living with her elder sister Evelyn and her husband Vic on their dairy farm at Hill End, and no doubt was helping with milking and other farm duties. The girls in the family were all very capable in most aspects of running a farm. This was during WW2 and the continuation of farm production at this time was important. First husband Harold's address was given as care of Dyer's Mill, Noogee.
