About Lottie Vera Tuffin

Born 19 December 1916 she attended Whakamara Primary and Hawera High School, leaving school at fifteen to work in a Bakery at Patea. She married Colin McLachlan on 14 October 1936 and had four children, Colin, Donald, Ian and Heather. During this time she moved to Wanganui and for some years she did housekeeping for Doctors and Lawyers and was in great demand for her catering skills learnt back in Patea. After her husbands death in 1964 she moved to New Plymouth where she worked at Daltons Supermarket, then became head cook at the Taranaki Club, White Hart Hotel and Francis Douglas College. Lottie devoted her life to looking after her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren and is sadly missed. She died 20 September 1998. Source: Hamilton Family 1875-2000.

Note: Cremated at New Plymouth, Taranaki, North Island, New Zealand on 22 Sep 1998. Ashes taken by W Abraham Funeral Home, (now Abrahams Funeral Home) on 23 Sep 1998.
