Lowell Ercel Cockrill

Lowell Ercel Cockriel was the son of James Alan Cockriel and Allie Walters from Platte County, Missouri. He married April 21, 1917 Anna Josephine Lillard. His death certificate stated his usual place of residence was Livermore, Humbolt Co. Iowa where he was Superintendent of Schools. He died from hepatic renal failure due to an obstruction and cancer of pancreas. He had had an operation at the Olmsted Community Hospital on Nov 22 1966 but died from it on Dec. 8th.

David James Cockrill b. 19 Feb 1919 Cincinnati, Harrison Co. IA d. 7 May 1985 Orange County, CA. m. Mary Besse Monroe on 26 Dec 1940 in Ray Co MO. She died 1 Apr 1997 in Scotland Co MO. Was an Elementary School Principal at Horace Mann Elementary School, in Rochester, MN, for 28 years. He was the principal at Hawthorn Elementary, for the four years preceding his retirement. David had a military leave of absence from 1950 to 1953, from the Rochester, MN school system to teach ROTC at the University of Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College in 1940, and then a Master's degree in Elementary Supervision and Administrationin 1947 and a Doctorate of Education degree in the same field in 1949 from the University of Missouri. He taught in Williamsburg, IA from 1940 to 1942. David was in the Army during World War II, he served in China, on the Burma road. He was called back into service for the Korean Conflict. David died at the home of his brother in Los Angeles, CA. He died of an abdominal aneurism.

John Long Cockrill b. 6 Aug 1920 Quincy, Adams Co. IL d. 13 June 2001 Dallas, TX. He married Ellen Schocke on 22 Aug 1942.

Samuel Lillard Cockrill b. 21 Jan 1925 Weldon, Decatur Co. IA d. 30 March 1987 Los Angeles, CA, m.1. Virginia Unknown 1 Oct 1941, m.2 6 Sept 1970 Las Vegas NV Martha Jane Myers.

Lowell Joe Cockrill b. 26 May 1929 IA d. 1931 age 2.

The family are in the 1920 census in Cincinnati, Appanoose County Iowa with infant David James. Lowell is working as Superintendent of the high school and his wife is a kindergarten teacher. He was 29, she was 28. The family are in the 1930 census in Livemore, Humboldt Co. IA with sons David, John, Sam and Lowell an infant. Lowell is working as a teacher in a public school and wife Anna Josephine is a housewife. The couple stayed in Livermore, Humboldt Co. IA in 1940 and David, John and Sam are now teenagers.
