Many of the WEED families of NH, ME and VT have their origin with John Weed 1627/30 of Newbury, MA rather than with Jonas (1)Weed of Stamford, CT. John was possibly Jonas' brother, but they were about 30 years apart in age, and since that Jonas (1) had a son John born c 1641, John of Newbury was evidently not that Jonas' son. The early descendents of John of Newbury are fairly well documented.
Lieut. John WEED was born in 1630 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He died on 15 MAR 1688 at Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He has Ancestral File Number K6L8-9H.
