Lucia Basset

I cannot find a link between the Bassets and Peverells to a Lucia and will be detaching this profile from these links. Should some reliable sources be brought forward I can revert these changes and reconnect her as d/o Sir Hugh Perverell, and wife of Alan de Basset Lord of Wycombe.

• Tehidy Country Park is located on the west coast of Cornwall, England, UK, about 2 miles north of Camborne, 2 miles west of Redruth, and about 1 mile south of the small harbour of Portreath. It was once part of an ancient manor owned by the Basset family which later gained much wealth from local tin mining.

• William I Basset of Ippesden, Oxfordshire, was the son of John I Basset of Ippesden.[4] He married Cecilia de Dunstanville[5] and obtained Tehidy Manor c. 1150[6]
• Alan I Basset (son), married Lucia Peverell, from whom he inherited the Devon manor of Whitechapel[7]
• Alan II Basset, (son) married the daughter of Sir Andrew Haccombe.[8]
• Sir Lawrence Basset, (son) married Hawisia Mallet, daughter of Sir Ralph Mallet.[9]

• Sir William III Basset (1300–1340) (son). Sheriff of Cornwall 1312, 1332 and 1334.[11] On 23 July 1330 a licence to crenellate Tehidy was granted by the king to Willielmus Basset.[12][13] He married Johanna de Bottreaux, daughter of Sir William de Bottreaux.[14]

  • (2) William Basset called upon to defend his title against Emma de Perci, said that one knight's fee in Corston and one in Acleia, descended to him as son and heir of John Basset, son and heir of Osmont Basset, to whom King Hen. I give them as a reward to services. Emma de Perci said that the king did not give them, but that Lucet de Brai gave them to Basilia his wife in marriage gift, and she afterwards mar. Osmond Basset, who thus took the lands. Cor. Reg. 6 Rich. I, No. 12. Also called upon to defend his title to lands in Ippesden, co. Oxford and elsewhere, William Basset said that Brian, son of the Earl, gave them to Osmond his grandfather, which grant was confirmed by King Henry II. Rot. Chart., 9 John, M. 3.
