Luciano P.R. Santiago

A graduate of the College of Medicine of the University of the Philippines, Dr. Luciano PR Santiago trained in both adult and child psychiatry at the renowned Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. After practicing his profession in the US for several years, he returned to the Philippines. Though a medical practitioner, he researches and writes in his spare time on a wide range of topics including medical psychology and Philippine history, art, culture & genealogy. He has published several books as well as monographs and articles in scholarly journals. Among the national and international awards he has received are: The Catholic Author Award, Catholic Press Award, Premio Manuel Bernabé (Primer Premio) in History (Spain), Wendell Muncie Prize for Distinguished Writing in Psychiatry (USA), Toyota International Research Grant Award (Japan), National Book Awards for Art, National Book Awards for History, Dr. Pedro N. Villaseñor Award for Genealogy, Bedans of the Century Award, Outstanding Filipino Writers (CCP Encyclopedia of Art), Outstanding Pasigueño Award, etc.
