Notes for Lucy BOASE:

Lucy married James Lawson after possibly meeting him when she was eighteen when working away from home. She was only 18 years of age and required her fathers consent for the marriage which was celebrated in accordance with the rites of the Bible Christian Ministry. Witnesses at the wedding were William Neil Lawson (possibly the grooms brother) and Elizabeth Webber. He later ran off with her older sister Kate. Lucy had three daughters with James and then took in her brothers two sons when they were 5 months and 22 months respectively. She came to WA for a period of time and opened a bottle shop. She later returned to the east and raised al lfive children alone.

Notes for James LAWSON:

Death reg No:22429. As per his death notice Sydney Morning Herald dated 22 October 1935 James died at his residence. Lived at 194 Botany Street South Kensington NSW

i. Evelyn Lucy LAWSON, B: 07 Oct 1885 in Kew Victoria, D: 06 Apr 1906 in Fremantle. Notes for Evelyn Lucy LAWSON: Known as Effy, Died aged 20 years following a long illness after a shooting accident when a boy playing with a gun lined up all three sisters and threatened to shoot them. He pulled the trigger and Effie wasmortally wounded but did not die for some time. The family resided at46 Arundel Street Fremantle and the funeral cortege departed from there.. She was buried in the Weslyan Portion of the Fremantle Cemetery.Gravesite No: 0201
