About Lucy Stone
Lucy (Towne) Stone was the daughter of Ichabod and Amanda (Doubleday) Towne. She was reported to have attended New Salem Academy in 1851. She met and married Joseph Stone and they had eight children together in Prescott, Massachusetts, where they spent nearly all of their married life. Her youngest child was 17 years old when her husband died. She was an exemplary matriarch. At her death, she was survived by six children, fifteen grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren, as well as two of her sisters. She was interred at Pine Grove Cemetery, Dana, Massachusetts, and removed to Mountain View Cemetery, New Salem, Massachusetts.
