Baptised under surname Montford on 27th June 1824 in Stockton. Anne (sister) is also patised on the same day.

1841 is age 23 serving nurseryman John Ayden and family in Warwick Row, St Michael's, Coventry.

1851 is age 30, housekeeper to George and two other men in Chauntry Place, Coventry, chaperoned by her mother, Martha. Martha claims to be a widow but her husband, William - 66 & an agricultural labourer - is listed in the census as living in Stockton with unmarried sons, John (46) and Henry (38) also agricultural labourers & grand-daughter, Jane, aged 6.

Lucy married George only when he was free to remarry. Their marriage certificate is for 1875 on September 5th in St Bartholomew's Church, West Bromwich. She is 51 and makes her mark instead of signing. George born 1854 has Lucy Wheeler formerly Mountford for his mother on his birth certificate. George senior is described as a widower in 1875. Until then the arrangement was under 'common law" .

1861 is mother of four in Birmingham at 172 Heneagre Street. George is a carpenter. Her mother is back in Stockton ( a true widow this time) with her two sons. Jane is a servant in Coventry.

1871 moved to Wolverton, Bucks where George(48) is a coach maker. Fred is a clerk and son George a coach maker like dad. The 2 additions are Christopher aged 7 and Lucy aged 5.

1881 are at 89 Church Street, Wolverton. Fred, George and Mary Ann have left home. John is 20 and a coach builder along with Christopher (18) and their dad who is recorded as 59 as is mum Lucy.Daughter Lucy is 16.

1891 is recorded as Lucy M aged 70. George is still a coach builder (railway) as is Christopher aged 30. Lucy has married and is living with them with husband Charles A Bush and Winifred their daughter aged 1.Charles is a baker.
