About Ludwig "Lutz" Bettelheim

Ludwig BETTELHEIM-GABILLON, Born Vienna 25 November 1882 died in Terezin concentration camp, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (Terezin, Czech Republic) 1943. Actor, Ministry and National Economist "Lutz" Ludwig (1882-1943), and later actor, ministry and national economist. Ludwig BETTELHEIM-GABILLON, son of the literary scholar, biographer, translator and writer Anton BETTELHEIM (1851-1930) and the writer and graphic designer Helene BETTELHEIM-GABILLON (1857-1946) and grandson of the actor couple GABILLON, Ludwig (1828-1896) and Zerline WURSBURG GABILLON (1834-1892) as initially also worked as an actor. As a child, "Lutz" Ludwig BETTELHEIM-GABILLON a game companion of the children of Kinstmazenin Jenny MAUTNER (1856-1938) and whose husband, the big industrialist Isidor MATNER (1852-1930, which since 1925 also was the owner of the Marienthal textile factory. His parents and maternal grandparents were close friends with the MAUTNER family

Ludwig BETTELHEIM-GABILLON was a soldier in WW1, and later officials in the Ministry, as the rank of Cousellor. He planned an extensive study of the economists Eugen Ritter von BOHM-BAWARK (1851-1914) as Minister for Finance. In 1938., Ludwig was arrested in Vienna by the Nazis. They also destroyed the manuscript, of which only two pre-print chapters survive.
