About Lushen 'Ferdie' Fredy Pyatt
Even though Lushen & Alice didn't have a lot of classroom education and very little of this world's goods, they left their children a legacy of perseverance & faith in God. If a neighbor was sick or in need of help they were there to help. Alice was sick 2 years. The last time she went to Church, she was so thin & weak she could hardly stand, but she stood & told the people, "I'll be going home to God soon", and that if she had wronged anyone, would they please forgive her & if they had wronged her, she forgave them. When Alice died, Lushen was left with 5 children to raise. Times were hard, but Lushen kept the children together, fed and clean. Lushen was the best biscuit maker in Crawford County, Missouri!! He worked as a farmer, for himself & others. He worked on roads & school buildings for the W.P.A. He walked many miles to & from work. He believed in giving a good days work for wages to feed his family. As Lushen grew-up, he attended the "Pyatt Hollow Pentecostal Church", and in later years he deeded an acre to the Church to move it from the "Hollow" up on the "Ridge". He helped build it & was faithful to Church until he got too sick to go. He thought of its members as his family. Four nights before he died, Christmas night, he was suffering & yet he prayed, "Father, Thank you that all is as well as it is", he went on praying for his children & there radiated joy & love for his Lord in his voice.
