They were living here when James was working in the coal mines. They would buy stuff at the country store on credit and then pay on pay day. Dad and brothers were sitting at kitchen table, but when mom went in to the bedroom to see her mom the bed was stripped bare, so she went through the house looking for her, but no one would say anything. Lady who took care of them cleaned them up and they looked out the window and saw the hearse coming down the street. The kids had to go to the bedroom while they brought in the coffin into the house. They put Moe by her as a baby. This scared mom who was only four years old. They took her back to Middleport, but mom does not remember the funeral or the burial. - John Nye from interview with Twila Humphrey
