Notes for LYDIA TECUMSEH: Lydia as the daughter of Tecumseh is a supposition; "Tecumseh, a Life" by John Sugden, pg 420, note 12; Johnston to the Piqua Gazette, 30 September 1826, Tecumseh papers, 1YY89; T. L. McKenney and J. Hall, Indian Tribes of North America, 1: 78.It appears that mother and daughter were among the Cherokees who migrated to Arkansas beginning in the 1790s.In the next century Tecumseh was said to have been the grandfather [great-grandfather?] of four or five brave and intelligent Cherokees known as the "fair-skinned" Proctors.
