About Lydia Ensign Hardy
Daughter of Eustaquio Valencia (a Spanish Don) and Ann Frances Moses ( a Mormon pioneer from the ship Brooklyn that sailed around Cape Horn and arrived in San Francisco). Lydia was the wife of John Jay Hardy. John died before his 2nd daughter's birth (Juanita Jay Hardy) who was named for her father. The couple's older daughter is Clara Rebecca Hardy who married Frederick James Hatt of Bluffdale, Utah.
After John Hardy's death Lydia took her two young daughters and moved to Utah to be near her aunt who was one of Angus Munn Cannon's wives. Within three years of arrival Lydia died leaving the small girls in the care of the Cannon family in Bluffdale, Utah.
Clara named one of her sons Angus, after Angus Munn Cannon who raised her and treated her as a daughter. Juanita later married William Dummer and eventually moved to California.
