About Lydia Leonard
Edward Avery's 1751 will does not mention a daughter Lydia. Web trees insist she was a daughter, however, and give her year of birth as 1726.
Caleb Leonard is known to have married Jemima Minthorn, but the date of this marriage is unknown. Caleb's first born son, Caleb Jr., named a son "Avery Hale Leonard", where "Hale" comes from Caleb's wife, and Avery definitely does not come from Ms. Minthorn. Therefore one starts to believe that Caleb Sr. may have had an undocumented first wife surnamed Avery. If so, Lydia Avery could well be that Avery daughter that Caleb married.
The fact that no mention of Lydia is made in the will is explained by the likely fact that she died in childbirth, or shortly thereafter, before the 1751 will was written. Thus, Caleb Jr. is her only son.
Note that DNA evidence backing this up has been reconsidered due to the analysis of later matches. The genealogy is, however, sound.
