About Lydia Fannie Redfern
There is some debate as to whether Fannie’s first name was Eliza or Lydia. Fannie, as she was called, was born Oct. 29, 1851 in Pavo, Georgia to William Sherrod and Isabella Sophorina “Sophie” King Sherrod. She married Elisha Chamberlin Redfearn in 1873. They had 9 children, four of whom did not live to adulthood; Mattie who died at age 12, William Jackson at age 18, Bessie at age 15 and John at the age of 4. His surviving children included Henry, Franklin (Frank), Wesley, Fannie and George. Elisha built the family home in Pavo that still stands and has remained in the family.
