Lydia S. Schaeffer

Lydia was the daughter of Benjamin Merkel and Catherine Sheridan, one of 12 children. Her father was a farmer.

Lydia was a member of the Fleet Lutheran Church per the Book of Biographies, 1898, p180. In the 1920 Census, she is referred to as "Lillie S."

Although her death certificate shows a birth date of Jan, 1840, the 1840 census does not list an 'under 5' female. The 1850 Census shows her as age 10, however. M/b she was born later in the year and the person supplying info for her death cert did not know the month she was born.
