About MUDr. Abraham Adolf Stransky
A bit of the family description is given in Die Juden und Judengemeinden Böhmens in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart I. (1 (1934) ;); page 507
Here is a rough translation into English, the comments in parenthesis are mine:
MUDr. Adolf Stránský was a well liked doctor and a humanitarian. He worked first in Sadská until 1861, then in Opočnice, and since 1892 in Poděbrady; died in Vienna in 1889 [the date is actually 1899] in his 76 year. His two sons, Edward and Karl opened a shop for rare goods in Paris and the younger brother Karl achieved the rank of knight of the legion. Third son, Hugo, died suddenly in 1903. The daughters Emilie and Hermina married. The first married Adolf Vantoch and the second married Hanus Horth [the name is actually Harth], a merchant in Vienna.
From the above, and also from the marriage records of his son Hugo and his daughter Hermine, we see that he sometimes used his birth name Abraham but later he used the name Adolf.
