About Mabel Gare
Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel R. Gare, 72, of Faribault, were held at the First Baptist Church in Faribault on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the Rev. F. Donald Worden officiating. Interment was made in the Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd, Iowa. Mrs. F. Donald Worden, organist, accompanied Mrs. James Drewitz as she sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Dennis Gare, James Gare, Kenneth W. Gare, Frank Hausen, Kenneth Hausen and Raymond Liverseed. Mabel Shook Gare was born on June 9, 1896 in Faribault to Abraham and Melissa Beckwith Shook. On Sept. 21, 1914, she was united in marriage to William Gare of Faribault. Following her marriage she resided for a while in Faribault and then moved to Nora Springs, Iowa, and returned to Faribault in 1929, where she has since resided. Mrs. Gare was a member of the First Baptist church. Mrs. Gare, who passed away at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault on Oct. 10, is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Myrtle) Hausen of Faribault; four sons, Donald, Lester, Kenneth and LeRoy Gare, all of Faribault; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Hazel) Butterfield and Mrs. William (Leaffia) Matthies, both of Faribault; one brother, Clayton Shook of Rockford, Ill., and by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; one daughter, Ruby, and her parents.
