Madison M Smith

He resided in Randolph County, where he enlisted in at age 21 in Company M, on June 10, 1861. He was mustered in as 2nd corporal, but was reduced to ranks sometime after Aug 31, 1861. He was listed as a deserter on Nob 16, 1863. He went over to the enemy on an unspecified date and was released after taking the Oath of Allegiance at Washington, DC, on Mar 19, 1864. He is thought to have gone west after the war.
