About Magdalen Pasley
MAGDALEN PASLEY (OTHERWISE MAGDALEN PAISLEY, OR MYRTLE PAISLEY)
is the daughter of James Pasley of Craig (1694-1773) and his first wife, Magdalen Elliot. She was probably born in 1744 for her baptism was registered at Langholm in Eskdale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, on 5 February 1744 [Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XYM8-HR4
Magdalen Pasley was married twice, first to William Myrtle: Their proclamation of marriage was booked at Westerkirk in Eskdale, Scotland, on 23 November 1768 [Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910,"index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTGQ-K4L and second to Stephen Briggs, sometime Chief Surgeon to the Army of the Madras Presidency in India. It is not certain but it seems quite likely, probable even, that she is the lady identified as: "Myrtle Paisley daughter of James Paisley" who was booked for proclamation of marriage with Stephen Briggs at Westerkirk in Eskdale, Scotland, on 19 June 1772 [Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTGQ-28J She had issue by her second husband only.
