Magdalene Ducat appears on a hand-drawn family tree as the wife of James Wilson; no further information about her in our family records.
The 1851 census has Magdlane [sic] living with husband and family in Dundee (see James' profile for more details). She is stated to be 43 and was born in Kettins, Forfarshire.
The following http://www.barfootp.f2s.com/m2h.php?IndID=25888 states that she was born 1806 in Kettins and christened on 12 November 1806 in Kettins. This source gives a detailed ancestry with siblings, but no information about where all this was sourced from. It states she died in 1850 which is clearly untrue as she appears in the 1851 census. It also gives a different mother for her husband than that given in the register of his death. Is it possible that this source has mixed up two James Wilsons producing children in Dundee around the same time?
Another detailed source of DUCATs of Magdalene's generation and earlier, with several siblings and their offspring, is here http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=higgie%2D.... However, this also gives her death date as 1850 and doesn't state sources.
There is a comprehensive study here by Craig Cross http://www.craigcross.co.uk/History/Ducat/OriginsoftheDucats.htm, of the name Ducat in the area, its possible origins and the limitations of records for research. This same researcher has produced a document detailing the descendants of William Ducat and Agnes Small, in which Magdalene appears with a death date of 4 March 1853. This researcher seems reliable, and it is this document which I will use to add Magdalene's family and ancestry to the tree. His landing page for Ducat information is here http://www.craigcross.co.uk/History/Ducat/Ducat.htm.
