Attended St Paul's Newbarns and Hawcoate Church School. See school Log Book Barrow in Furness Record Office Ref BDS/22/1/1. On 14th Dec 1887, 31st Jan 1888 and 24th Feb 1888 Maggie aged 13 was sent home for not having paid school pence. On 13th March 1888 a Gilstone was sent home for the same reason and this was probably Maggie. On 20th March and 17th April 1888 three Gilstones were sent home. These were probably Maggie, Annie aged 11 and Josephine aged 9. On 2nd July 1889 two Gilstones were sent home but they didn't return. Maggie may have left school by now aged 14 and these two may have been Annie and Josephine. On 4th Oct 1889 two Gilstones were sent home but did not return. Probably Annie and Josephine again. On 11th March 1890 three Gilstones were sent home. By now Sarah aged 9 may have been at the school.
