It is with much sadness that we chronicle the death of Hon. B. F. Bean, who died at his residence at Priceville on Sunday 25th. His death was not unexpected, for he has been for some time a long and patient sufferer. In his death, Morgan County loses one of its best and most useful citizen. His life has been an open book to the world and he has been pointed to as a model business man.
Maj. Bean was born in Edgefield District, South Carolina, on the 1st day of September 1829, and at the age of five years removed with his father to Morgan County, who settled five miles north of Somerville, where he lived for many years. He was married to Mary Ann Garner, daughter of Lawson Garner, Dec. 13th, 1843, when he was just 28 years of age. Not long after his marriage he moved to the place where he was living when he died, seven miles north east of Hartselle. As the fruit of his marriage, there was born unto him nine children, three of whom only are now living, two daughters and one son, Lawson Bean, Mrs Susan Echols and Mrs Ella Skeggs.

The farm that William Bean, son of Benjamn Franklin Bean, bought, built a nice home (after he married) joined or has been a part of the original plantation place. Soon there was a post office and a general store on the main road. P>O> was Priceville and continued many years.
