George Leonard was born on 18 April 1671 at Taunton. He was the son of Thomas Leonard and Mary Watson.
George Leonard married Anna Tisdale, daughter of John Tisdale Jr. and (H)Anna Rogers, on 4 July 1695 at Taunton.
George Leonard died on 5 September 1716 at Norton at age 45.

Biography
George Leonard was born April 18, 1671 at Taunton, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas and Mary (Watson) Leonard. He married at Taunton Anna Tisdale on July 4, 1695. They moved to Norton. His gravestone says he was the first settler at Norton. in 1696. George was a clerk at the Chartley Iron Works and in 1707 he bought a half interest from his uncle James. In 1713 his father's will awarded him the other half. "Major" George added over 1,000 acres and founded the Leonard Iron Works of Norton.<ref>Koster, Fannie Leonard. Annals of the Leonard Family. Brooklyn, NY: Self-Published, 1911. Page44.</ref> Major George died at Norton September 5, 1716, i his 46th year.<ref>Vital Records of Norton, Massachusetts to the year 1850. (Boston, Mass. : Published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society,, 1906) citing his gravestone in his 46th year GR2 - now called Norton Common Cemetery p. 381</ref> George Leonard of Norton, in the 44th year of his age, made a will, and left his estate to Anna Leonard his wife, and his five Leonard daughters, Phebe, Anna, Abigail, Marcy and Mary, eldest son George Leonard,second son Nathaniel Leonard, and third son Ephraim Leonard. He also mentioned sisters Elizabeth Williams and, Mary Tisdale.
