Comments
Per Dorman, Beheathland Bernard had only two Dade children, Francis and Mary. Her second husband, Andrew Gilson apparently had children when they married, one of whom married William Lane. I don’t find an Anne Dade.
Dorman says “the daughter Mrs. Buckner, named in Andrew Gilson’s will, and the wife of “my wel beloved sonn in law Mr. Wm, Lane” to whom Beheathland Gilson gave a power of attorney, 14 Nov 1667 (Old Rappahannock County Deeds, &c 3, 1663-1668, p. 312) appear to be his children by a previous marriage.” Dorman, Vol. 1, p.221
Notes

Andrew Gilson was an early Virginia colonist, at least from the 1650s. He was a fairly wealthy man from his land holdings and participated regularly in civil affairs, having been a justice of Lancaster County, then "Old" Rappahannock County, and finally Stafford County as these various counties were formed. He was also the High Sheriff of Rappahannock in 1660.[1]
He died in 1698 and left a relatively detailed will proved in Stafford Co., Virginia.[2] The will names his son Thomas, a son [in law] Storke (widower of Behethland), and a son [in law] and daughter Buckner, who have not been positively identified but are presumably related to the Buckners who lived near him in Stafford (e.g. Phillip Buckner (d. 1700)).
J.B.C. Nicklin wrote a monograph on him in 1930 and at the time was unable to determine any firm information about his origins, which is somewhat puzzling since Gilson was a man of wealth and position even from his first appearances in colonial records. Nicklin estimated a birth year of 1628, probably based on the idea that Gilson must have been at least 21 years of age when he obtained his first land grant in 1650. By 1652, he was even sitting on the court of Lancaster County, so any birthdate after 1631 can be ruled out with high confidence. Gilson's will had not yet been discovered in Nicklin's time, so the article lacks some important information.[3]
