About Malcolm "Calum MacEachuinn" MacNeil
From page #083 "History of Christmas Island Parish":
It was in 1805 that “Hector Piper” came to settle permanently at Piper’s Cove. His son Malcolm was born on the day of their arrival at that place — the first child of Scottish parents born in this district.
His son, Malcolm, commonly known as “Calum MacEachuinn" settled at Piper’s Cove and built the first frame house that was built in this district. Being in Sydney one time, he saw a man putting up the frame of a dwelling house; and when he came home he went to work and built a similar one for himself — house that stood firm amid the storms and sunshine of a century.
He married Rachel, daughter of John McKinnon (Big),of Rear McKinnon’s Harbour, and settled on part of his father’s farm at Piper’s Cove.
Issue: — Hector, Neil, Michael, Katie, John and Isabella.
