• 1889 Adams city directory: Sherman Manly H. grocer 34 East Hoosac h do.
• 1900 census - Adams - occupation carpenter; parents and elder boy can read and write
• 1910 census - Dalton, Berkshire, MA - widowed
• 1930 census - Adams - divorced, lodger (Fannie was living with their son Melvin and his wife in West Springfield, Hampden, MA.)

When he married in 1885, Manley was 26 and a teamster; Fannie was 18 and a mill operative. Both were living in Adams.
