About Manuel Yan
Manuel Tecson Yan was a soldier and diplomat. He graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1941 and rose to become the youngest chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He served as an Ambassador and Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and was stationed in Thailand, Indonesia and the United Kingdom. He served President Ramos, as the peace process negotiator, which resulted in the 1996 accord with the Moro National Liberation Front -- an agreement which resulted in the establishment of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
