Marcela Mariño-Agoncillo was a Filipina renowned in Philippine history as the principal seamstress of the first and official flag of the Philippines, gaining her the title of Mother of the Philippine Flag. More here:

Marcela is known as the 'Mother of the Philippine Flag'. This is because she sewed the flag (in Hong Kong) which was used when General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the independence of the Philippines on 12 June 12 1898 in Kawit, Cavite.
