About Margaret Newmarche Acie

b. circa 1604, d. 12 February 1644/45, #19227

Father **William Haiton/Hayton2 b. 1 March 1586 Mother **Anne Beamont2 b. circa 1587

Birth circa 1604 Margaret was born circa 1604 or 1605 at or near, Kirk Ella, Yorkshire now Humberside, England.1

Marriage 25 Jan 1620/21 Margaret Haiton married **William Acie or Acey Jr, son of **William Acie or Acey Sr and **Jane Skales, 25 January 1620/21 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire now Humberside, England. Their children are given as follows: Mary ACY\ACIE Thomas ACY\ACIE Ruth ACY\ACIE b: 14 MAR 1623/24 in Bap. at Kirk Ella, England Elizabeth ACY\ACIE b: 1632 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England John ACY\ACIE b: ABT. 1638 Joseph ACY\ACIE b: 1657 in Bap. in Boston, Massachusetts (Savage)

This list from http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2836783&id=I0740 does NOT include Abigail.

Another list gives these children and includes Abigail. No original documentation given. Ruth ACY b: BEF. 14 MAR 1620/21 Ellena ACY b: BEF. 22 JAN 1621/22 Mary ACY b: ABT. 1623 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England Agnes ACY b: BEF. 12 MAR 1619/20 Abigail ACY b: ABT. 1625 Sara ACY b: BEF. 16 MAR 1625/26 John ACY b: BET. 1625 - 1627 John ACY b: 1638 Elizabeth ACY b: 24 OCT 1632 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England

Birth dates and birth places are not consistent. It is likely that the youngest child was born in the colonies and not in England.1

Their children are given as: Ruth (Immigrant) Acie b: BEF 14 MAR 1622 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England Mary (Immigrant) Acie b: ABT 1625 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England Abigail (Immigrant) * Acie b: abt 1630-1633 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England Elizabeth (Immigrant) Acie b: 24 OCT 1632 in perhaps Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England John (Immigrant) Acie b: ABT 1638 in Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England

Note that all children were born in England and that they are all listed as Immigrant. This family must have come to New England some time between the birth of John in 1638 and 1645 when father shows up in Rowley.

Children Ruth, Elizabeth and John are given with parents on the passenger roster for "John of London" in the fall of 1638. ABIGAIL is NOT.1

1638 William Acey came to the colonies with Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, 24th Pastor of St. Peter's Church, Rowley, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, when Rogers organized a company of twenty families from Rowley and nearby towns and sailed on "John of London". They arrived in Salem, Massachusetts in the fall of 1638. The first printing press to be used in the colonies was carried over on the "John" and set up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The listing for these first families is said to have burned when Pastor Rogers house burned.

The list of the passengers on the John of London, leaving Hull England and arriving in Salem, Massachusetts in the fall of 1638 includes: Acy, William Acy, Margaret (Haiton) Acy, Ruth Acy, Elizabeth Acy, John.

This is NOT a listing from the original manifest as that is not in existance, but rather a listing from those people that were known to have settled in Rowley.

There was a John Boynton, a William Boynton on this ship also.3

Death 12 Feb 1644/45 Margaret died on 12 February 1644/45 at Rowley, Essex county, Massachusetts.4 May be an error if the burial date is correct.

Burial 12 Feb 1674/75 Margaret was buried in Rowley, Massachusetts. This burial date is likely a typo IF the death date is correct.1
