Margaret Colquhoun, here treated, is the daughter of

Margaret Cunningham made her last will and testament on 17 February 1571: "I dame Margaret Cwnynghame, Lady Luss, haill in spirit and febill in body, subject to seikness and infirmities, makis my testament in manner and form as eftir follows." She committed her: "saule to God Almightie." and her body: "to be buriet in the kirk of Glasgow, in the sepulchre of umquhile my brodir, Mr. James Cunynghame, befoir all hallow altare." She appointed her sons Thomas Colquhoun and Mr. Archibald Colquhoun and her cousin Mr. Archibald Crawfurd to be her executors, and "they to dispone upon my guids conform to my lattir will as thai will answer thairupon before God. She left 100 merks: "to my cousing the person of Eglischem" and "the rest of my guids and geir to be disponit among my bairns, Thomas, Mr. Archibald, Bessie, and Gelis, at the sycht, discretion, and consideration of my said cousing, the parson, oversman." Confirmation was granted to her executors on 20 July 1573. According to Clan MacFarlane genealogy, Sir John Colquhoun of Luss and his second wife Margaret Cunningham had a daughter named Margaret who married Hugh Crawford of Kilbirnie. Clan MacFarlane and associated clans genealogy: Margaret Colquhoun This runs contrary to the genealogical account produced by William Fraser, which identifies the wife of Hugh Crawford of Kilbirnie as the "carnal daughter" of Sir John Colquhoun of Luss.
