Margaret 'Mary' Walkup
Born in Ulster, Ireland or Waxhaw Settlement, South Carolina
There is conflicting information on this Margaret Walkup. Some sources claim her birthdate as early as 1705 (which would have been impossible for her to be a daughter of Samuel Walkup and Nancy Agnes Alexander, who were married abt. 1719), and as late as 1735 (which would have been too young to have married William Gay abt. 1740). Her birtdate has been placed as "abt. 1722", which has been approximated from a marriage date of abt. 1740. More research may be needed on this individual.
