About Margaret Ruth Kinney
Margaret Ruth Stevenson, a daughter of Capt. Levi Lamb Stevenson and the former Miss Elizabeth "Betsy" Dunlap, was born in the bounds of Staunton, Virginia in 1816. Her father had served during the War of 1812 with distinction.
Margaret Stevenson married Chesley Kinney, II on January 8th 1835 in Staunton. Mr. Kinney was a prominent lawyer and three times member of the Virginia House of Delegates. This union would have three known children: Mary Edmunds {m. Ker} (1835-1872) Jacob Chesley (1837-1921 ) Richard Stevenson (1841-1923)
After the war, Margaret lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Staunton; moving in the mid-'80s to Sherman, Texas to live with her son, Richard and his family.
Margaret Stevenson Kinney departed this life on April 5th 1896 in the 80th year of her age. Her remains were returned to the home of her birth and interred at Thornrose Cemetery near her daughter, Mary Edmunds Ker.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Mar 3 2020, 19:20:39 UTC
