About Margaret Potter
Naming patterns suggest that Margaret Gifford may have been a descendent of Pilgrim John Alden, however the known evidence does not bear this out and the Alden Family Kindred has no record of such a connection. She had a grandson with the name Alden Sherman, and two of her cousins had children with the given name Alden. However, her ancestry is documented through the Mayflower generation. It includes Pilgrims Francis Cooke and George Soule, but no Alden line. If an Alden connection is discovered, it will probably be through the descendents of William Pabodie and his wife Elizabeth Alden, daughter of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. This Pabodie line lived at Little Compton, Rhode Island.
12 children; moved from Topsham to Litchfield Me in 1782
